Hull City Offer €35m for Malick Fofana Following Roma Withdrawal
Hull City have submitted a formal €35m offer to Olympique Lyonnais for winger Malick Fofana. The Championship side stepped into negotiations after AS Roma stepped back due to financial constraints.
The 21-year-old Belgium winger has operated primarily out wide since moving to France. He joined Lyon in January 2024 after coming through the ranks at Belgian club KAA Gent.
AS Roma
clubAS Roma were previously leading the race for his signature. The Italian club reached an agreement on personal terms with the player, but they chose to redirect their focus toward signing Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi.
Fofana had originally agreed to terms with Roma before their financial limits stalled the move. He subsequently held a video call with Hull City officials to discuss their squad project and long-term plans.

clubFlexible Attacking Options Across the Front Line for Malick Fofana
The winger offers direct running capability on both sides of a three-man attack. Capable of lining up on either the left or right flank, his positional flexibility allows coaches to vary wide movement during matches.
Rotation and Width Across the Hull City Attack
Adding another wide option strengthens overall rotation across the front line. Bringing in extra width provides necessary coverage for high-intensity fixtures throughout the season.
Evaluating the €35m Bid and Financial Context
Hull City’s bid stands at €35m as negotiations continue with the Ligue 1 club. Lyon originally spent €19.5m to acquire the winger from KAA Gent, while Roma’s financial limits prevented them from making a matching offer. Alfredo Pedullà / Footmercato.
