Man Utd Captain Escapes Fine After Burglary and Tactical Dissent
Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes will face no internal disciplinary action from the club after publicly criticizing manager Michael Carrick‘s tactics following a 4-1 Champions League defeat against Como on Wednesday, during which his home was targeted by burglars. Officers attended the midfielder’s residence while his family was away, with United providing emergency support as police investigate the break-in.

The decision not to fine Fernandes contrasts with earlier internal proceedings this season, when defender Lisandro Martinez received a financial penalty following similar public remarks. Fernandes’ family was not present during the Wednesday night burglary in Manchester, allowing the captain to return alongside the squad on Thursday morning to address the property break-in without immediate regulatory sanction from United executives.

“It’s a decision from the staff to not press man-to-man and sometimes leave a little bit of space in behind, and trying to get the ball in the first moment, to wait for them, to give them the ball,” Fernandes said. “Sometimes when you give too much of the ball to these teams, they get confidence. They have so many bodies behind the ball that make you run a lot, make people get frustrated, and then obviously when you recover the ball, the legs and the brain are much more difficult to make it work.”
