Millwall Set Record £15m Sale as Femi Azeez Joins Brighton
Brighton have agreed a deal worth up to £15m with Millwall to sign Femi Azeez, structured as an initial £12.5m payment with performance-related add-ons. The agreement was reached after Millwall turned down three previous bids from the Seagulls.
Azeez is a 25-year-old winger who primarily plays on the right flank. He moved to Millwall from Reading for around £1m in 2024 and had two years remaining on his contract before finalizing his switch to the top flight.
The attacker earned a spot in the PFA Championship Team of the Year following an impressive campaign. He recorded 11 goals and eight assists in 37 games last season to attract interest from higher divisions.
While Brighton secured his signature, Championship club Wrexham also tracked the winger closely during the transfer window.
Azeez has been pushing for a move to the Premier League throughout recent weeks. Millwall manager Alex Neil left the winger out of his last three matchday squads while negotiations took place.
Femi Azeez’s Role in Brighton’s Attacking System
Azeez brings direct pace and output to Brighton’s wide positions. His ability to drive past defenders and generate goals from wide areas offers another dynamic option on the flanks for the squad.
Squad Rotation and Loan Decisions at the Amex Stadium
The incoming transfer immediately alters Brighton’s wide depth. His arrival allows 21-year-old winger Amario Cozier-Duberry to leave on loan to Middlesbrough after agreeing a new contract with Brighton.
Millwall’s Record Fee and Brighton’s Window Spend
The total package represents a club-record sale for Millwall, generating a significant profit on the £1m fee paid to Reading two years ago. For Brighton, Azeez represents their 11th arrival of the summer transfer window as the club reshapes its roster following high-profile player sales.
