Bologna Block €30m Atalanta Move to Keep Hold of Jonathan Rowe
Bologna have rejected a €30m transfer package from Atalanta for winger Jonathan Rowe. The Serie A club pulled down the shutters on negotiations immediately, refusing to discuss selling the forward in the current transfer window.
Rowe operates as a direct winger who attacks defenders from wide areas. The 2026 summer transfer window has seen his profile rise rapidly across European football following a standout debut campaign in Italian football.
Atalanta
clubThe wide attacker earned high demand by putting up eight goals and five assists in 43 competitive appearances. That output during his first season in Serie A proved his ability to deliver consistent goals and final-third productivity at the top level.
Atalanta are not the only club tracking the winger. Aston Villa have also monitored Rowe’s situation closely ahead of the transfer deadline.
Bologna
clubMaurizio Sarri’s Search for Attackers at Atalanta
Atalanta pushed for the deal after new manager Maurizio Sarri identified a need for additional wide dynamic threat in his squad. Sarri wants pace and direct running on the flanks to fit his system following a goalless European play-off tie.
Bologna Refuse to Open Door After Santiago Castro Exit
Bologna are taking a firm stance against selling Rowe because their attacking line was already weakened by Santiago Castro’s departure to Roma. Losing another starting forward in the same window would leave their squad depleted, making them unwilling to negotiate regardless of the price tag.
Atalanta’s €30m Proposal Below Bologna’s Valuation
Atalanta’s turned-down package reached €30m, which failed to tempt Bologna after they originally paid €17m plus bonuses to sign Rowe from Olympique Marseille. Bologna also owe Marseille a 10 percent sell-on fee from any future move, reducing the net gain on a potential deal at that figure.
