Inter Send Yanis Massolin to Cagliari on Loan with €7m Option
Cagliari completed the loan signing of Yanis Massolin from Inter Milan for the 2026-27 season. The agreement gives the Sardinian club a €7m option to purchase the player permanently, while Inter secured a buy-back clause to retain control over his long-term future.
At 23 years old, the attacking midfielder makes his move to Sardinia looking for his first regular minutes in top-flight football. Massolin operates behind the forwards where he can link play and drive directly into central territory.
Cagliari
clubHis move comes off the back of a solid campaign in the second division, where he posted 3 goals and 3 assists from 28 appearances in Serie B during the 2025-26 season for Modena. Inter originally bought him from Modena for €8m in January before loaning him straight back to finish that campaign.
Massolin Brings Fresh Central Creativity to Cagliari
Massolin steps into the Cagliari squad to offer direct running and key passes from central attacking areas. His ability to operate between the lines gives the club an additional central playmaker as they step into the new Serie A campaign.
Top-Flight Opportunity and Squad Depth at Unipol Domus
The move provides Cagliari with immediate depth in central positions without requiring a heavy upfront financial outlay. For Massolin, the loan offers a direct route to regular Serie A playing time after spending the previous year building up matches in Serie B.
Financial Terms of Inter’s Buy-Back Agreement
Cagliari hold the right to turn the temporary transfer into a permanent move by triggering the €7m purchase option at the end of the season. Inter will still hold a fixed buy-back clause after investing €8m in add-ons and bonuses to acquire him from Modena eight months prior.
