Bournemouth Swoop for Michele Di Gregorio as Juventus Revamp Goalkeepers
Juventus are executing a sweeping change in goal following the arrival of Guglielmo Vicario on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. The Italian club has agreed a deal to send goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio to Premier League side Bournemouth on loan with an option to make the move permanent. At the same time, fellow Juventus shot-stopper Mattia Perin is wrapping up a permanent transfer to Serie B club Palermo.
Di Gregorio is a 29-year-old goalkeeper who featured heavily for Juventus last season after previously establishing himself in Serie A.
Bournemouth
clubBournemouth won the race for Di Gregorio despite interest from several other clubs across Europe. Lazio, Olympique Marseille, Torino, Valencia, Besiktas, and his former club Monza all tracked the player before the English side finalized terms. Meanwhile, Palermo focused their efforts on securing Perin after Juventus dropped their valuation below the initial €3m price tag.
How Michele Di Gregorio Fits Into Bournemouth’s Defensive Setup
Di Gregorio arrived at Juventus in 2024 following an €18.8m transfer from Monza and immediately took over as the first-choice goalkeeper. However, a drop in form during the 2025, 26 campaign saw him lose his starting place in Turin. His move to England offers a fresh start under a new tactical system, giving Bournemouth an experienced shot-stopper capable of controlling his penalty area.

The loan deal reshapes the goalkeeper depth for both clubs involved in the negotiation. Juventus clear space on their squad list after signing Guglielmo Vicario to take over between the posts. Bournemouth add proven top-flight experience to their rotation, while Palermo secure Perin to lead their back line in Serie B.
Financial Terms of the Bournemouth Loan and Palermo Sale
Bournemouth structured the agreement as a seasonal loan with an option to buy, allowing them to assess Di Gregorio before committing to a long-term purchase. Juventus originally signed the goalkeeper on a contract running through June 2029 after paying €18.8m plus add-ons. In a separate deal, Juventus reduced their original €3m asking price for Perin to complete his transfer to Palermo.
