Fylde Secure Blackpool Midfielder Theo Upton on Season-Long Loan
AFC Fylde have completed the signing of midfielder Theo Upton on a season-long loan from Blackpool. The teenager joins the National League outfit for the remainder of the 2026-27 campaign to gain regular first-team minutes.
An 18-year-old midfielder by trade, the youngster came through the youth ranks at Bloomfield Road. He signed his first professional contract with Blackpool in February 2025 after progressing rapidly through the academy setup.
The prospect already has 5 senior appearances for Blackpool under his belt. He made his senior debut at just 16 years old back in September 2024 before gaining non-league experience during a spell with eighth-tier Matlock Town.
Midfield Reinforcement for Fylde’s Central Engine
The addition gives Fylde a composed central option capable of linking defense and attack. Having already experienced senior fixtures and non-league battles, the teenager brings immediate technical quality and tactical flexibility to the middle of the pitch.
Immediate Debut Opportunity in National League Trip to Woking
Upton moves straight into contention for a starting spot in the squad ahead of Saturday’s fixture against Woking. His presence heightens competition across the central midfield positions as the squad aims to build early season momentum.
Low-Risk Loan Agreement Strengthens Coasters Roster
Securing a temporary agreement allows Fylde to expand their central depth efficiently. The move offers Blackpool valuable development minutes for their young talent while boosting the Coasters’ options across a demanding campaign.
